The Run Club began with a simple summer text exchange between two Goldsmiths University students, Snorre and Daniel, whose shared love for running sparked an idea that would soon connect students across London. What started as a casual pitch quickly transformed into an intercollegiate running club with a vision of inclusivity and community.
Their goal was clear: to create a space that welcomed everyone, offering an alternative to the often intense, competitive atmosphere of traditional university sports societies. For Snorre and Daniel, The Run Club wasn’t just about fitness—it was about building connections.
Running, they explained, is a natural stress-reliever and a powerful way to form bonds. “Running together brings people together,” they shared, describing how the club fosters a team spirit where everyone supports each other. Their approach is deeply rooted in inclusivity; The Run Club welcomes runners of all levels, adjusting its pace to make sure no one is left behind, creating a space that’s warm, welcoming, and encouraging for all.
Although The Run Club’s creation may seem spontaneous, Snorre had been dreaming up the idea for a while. As a design student, he envisioned the club’s unique branding and logo before sharing it with Daniel. Together, they brought this vision to life, building a strong online presence on Instagram and posting flyers at universities across London to spread the word.
Every Sunday, The Run Club gathers students from various universities, including LSE and UCL, to explore new routes around the city. Their social media following has grown steadily, generating many likes and shares, though they acknowledge the challenge of converting online enthusiasm into in-person attendance.
Looking ahead, Snorre and Daniel’s vision extends beyond London. With expansions already underway in Sheffield and conversations with students in Southampton and Amsterdam, they imagine a vast network of Run Clubs united by the joy of running.
They’re also willing to explore partnerships with coffee shops for post-run gatherings, social events, and club merchandise—not to generate profit, but to deepen their goal of fostering an accessible, uplifting space for students everywhere.
In just a few months, The Run Club has grown from a simple idea into a movement that is redefining the university sports experience. With a commitment to inclusivity and community, Snorre and Daniel are dreaming big, bringing students together one run at a time.
