Kingsway Fire disrupts LSE100 classes

On the morning of Thursday 11th October, a small electric fire broke out at 20 Kingsway. Students walking past Kingsway on the morning of the incident were met with fire engines, security tape barring access to the campus via Kingsway, and all LSE100 classes of the morning cancelled.

An LSE spokesperson said: “The fire brigade were called to scene and the fire was promptly extinguished.” The spokesperson then continued on to affirm that “all staff were evacuated safely and classes in the building were rescheduled or reallocated for the day.”

Students received an initial email from the LSE100 Course Manager earlier in the day indicating that a decision had “not yet been taken about the classes scheduled from 13.30” was then followed up around midday detailing that 20 Kingsway had re-opened for the remainder of LSE100 classes. LSE100 also scheduled two additional classes the following day for those who had missed Thursday’s classes due to the fire.
