Solace in the Sports Section

I hated playing Imperial anyway. Their captain is an awful bloke and the pitch is by Heathrow airport. Around half an hour in to the game, I made a fateful turn chasing down their left-back, heard a click in my knee and fell to the ground yelping like a clubbed seal.

With no Sport in the last 5 months and none in the next 12, The Beaver is my only solace. 2018-19 has been a strange one for many reasons, among them being that I wasn’t actually at uni for most of it having interrupted my first year in April 2018.

Sport continued its tradition of being a hotbed of debate. My article on the top 5 cult sport video games provoked much anger at my omission of Brian Lara 07 and questions were (wrongly) asked over the inclusion of Need For Speed Underground. Lukey’s article on the top 5 weirdest sports introduced our eager readers to the strange world of gurning (Is there any danger of an LSE Gurning society by the way?)

I wrote about Men’s Football inter-LSE matches, dubbed El Clásico and sunk tins on the sideline. Lukey met and wrote about Cardiff’s no.1 fan, a Rosebery legend who simply loves his footy. I interviewed Chloé Blyth, an incredible skier and one of LSE’s finest athletes who gave us some interesting insights into the world of elite sports. I could go on, but if you’re one the countless fans of our Sport section, you know it all already. So, as always, cheers for reading and we’ll see you next year.
