LSE Cleaners stage Online Day of Action

On 11 December 2020 the Justice for LSE Cleaners Campaign organised an online day of action and called upon supporters to send out a pre-formed email to demand greater safety for staff. This email follows another sent to LSE Chief Operating Officer Andrew Young over a month ago that the campaign claims has yielded no response.

The demands outlined in the template include decent and private changing rooms for staff, clearer communication regarding Covid-19 measures, safety measures pertaining to the pandemic as well as a range of topics concerning wages which include hazard pay and raises.

The day of action comes over two years after LSE Cleaners succeeded in their campaign to become direct LSE employees, and five months after the last online day of action the campaign staged on July 22nd.

The desired response by LSE would be an implementation of the demands outlined in the mail, a campaign spokesperson commented. The Beaver had previously reported on the workers’ action staged by the campaign over the past four years.
