LSESU Business and Investment Group wins ‘Impact on Campus’ award

By Jeffrey Wang

On Monday, 25 November, LSESU’s Business and Investment Group (BIG) announced that it won the Bright Network’s 2019 award for Impact on Campus. BIG is a product of the merger between LSESU Investment Society and LSESU Business and Finance Guild earlier this year.

The Bright Network, founded in 2007, is a network of career-oriented university students and graduates in the United Kingdom which hosts a selection of events, including employability workshops, networking events, and recruitment fairs. Alongside these, they host the Bright Network’s Society of the Year Awards, which this year featured eight awards for United Kingdom university student societies.

BIG applied for the Impact on Campus award and was selected for the final shortlist alongside two other societies: Oxford Guild Business Society and the University of Winchester Law society. The winner of the award was decided by popular vote, for which BIG launched an impressive social media campaign, finally receiving the most votes of the three societies.

“We couldn’t be happier with today’s news. This award reflects the relentless work of our committees and commitment from our members so far this year as we continue to make strides towards growing our size and influence on LSE’s Campus. Through this growing influence, we can cater to our ambition to help more students gain industry insight and skills and prepare them for their individual career journeys. The society sees this award as a step to greater things to come,” the group’s Director of Events, David Abadir, told The Beaver.
