By: Melissa Limani

Celebrity rebrands—a classic move for shedding old skin and stepping into a new identity destined for stardom. We’ve all contemplated changing our hair colour, reinventing our style, archiving all our old Instagram posts, but these celebs have the luxury of a whole makeover team—whether it’s hair and makeup, styling, or PR. As “fans” our job, really, is to either eat it up or leave it in the dust as a total flop. With that being said, let’s evaluate the chicest celebrity rebrands of 2024 as determined by public opinion.

Sofia Richie: The Queen of Quiet Luxury

When the Kardashian-Jenners start echoing your style, you know you’ve reached the epitome of influence. Of course, I am talking about Sofia Richie, who ascended the ranks of quiet luxury this year, setting a trend that other celebrities could only try to emulate. Just look at the outfit changes of her five-day wedding, involving multiple Chanel haute couture pieces, two Khaite moments, Australian label Posse, and a Proenza Schouler dress that sold out everywhere – her ability to secure the season’s most coveted designs and captivate the world with their elegance puts her at the top of the list.

To reflect her elevated sense of style, Richie launched a series of collaborations that solidified her as the face of understated opulence, blending clean lines, muted tones, and timeless designs. This began with the “Sofia for Tommy” capsule collection, a line with Solid & Striped for their spring 2024 collection, followed by the announcement of her own clothing brand. While specific details remain under wraps, Richie emphasised that her line will embody her iconic sophistication, a striking evolution from her time with Scott Discik where her bold, trend driven pieces matched the flashier aesthetic of the Kardashian-Jenner circle. With this rebrand, it’s no wonder she’s the poster child for the quiet luxury movement.

Daisy Edgar-Jones: Boho-Chic Revival

On a similar wavelength, we have Daisy Edgar-Jones. We all fell in love with her on Normal People, but 2024 cemented her status as a fashion-forward icon with a relaxed, hippie-esque, flowy style. Vogue highlighted Daisy’s ascent in the fashion world, noting her emergence into the “It-Girl” arena. A significant factor in her transformation was her collaboration with renowned stylist Dani Michelle that began during the Twisters press tour.

Daisy’s adoption of the boho-chic trend was praised in her appearances in Chloé ensembles, such as a sheer, ruffled, ice-blue two-piece from Chloé’s A/W 2024 collection, perfectly capturing her transition into a more carefree aesthetic. Her connection to iconic labels doesn’t end there. At a press night after-party for Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, she stunned in a fern-green mini dress from Victoria Beckham’s SS25 collection, featuring an asymmetrical neckline and draped chiffon.

These carefully curated looks reflected her ability to balance elegance with a grounded, bohemian style, solidifying her growing reputation as a modern muse for the effortlessly chic.

Miley Cyrus: Grungy Nostalgia with a Sophisticated Twist

Next up, we have a woman who has undergone many transformations in her time: Miley Cyrus. From her days as Hannah Montana, to her unforgettable 2013 MTV Video Music Awards performance and the rock aesthetic of her Plastic Hearts Album, Miley’s many looks have made their mark in pop culture. In 2024, her rebrand embraced a grungy yet sophisticated nostalgia that paid homage to iconic styles of the past while showcasing her growth as an artist.

Her standout moment? The 2024 Grammy Awards, where she wowed in a custom-made gold gown by John Galliano for Maison Margiela—a piece that epitomised her blend of edgy glamour and vintage allure. She followed this with a performance of her hit Flowers in a vintage Bob Mackie dress from his Fall/Winter 2002 collection, connecting her modern-day artistry with the elegance of the past. This was more than just a fashion statement; following her performance, Miley acquired the Mackie dress at an auction stating, “This dress represents more than a performance — it’s a celebration of the relationship between music, artistry, and glamour.”

Celebrity rebrands in 2024 weren’t just about aesthetic overhauls—they told stories. Each transformation elevated the women’s identities while reshaping cultural trends. With authenticity, rebrands can transcend being simple makeovers to become iconic moments in pop culture.

Recent years have been defined by celebrity rebrands; Melissa spotlights the most striking transformations, from Sofia Richie to Miley Cyrus, revealing how they reflect broader cultural shifts.
