How To Buy An LSE Freshers’ RAG Band

Hello all excited, incoming freshers to LSE! You’ve just got your results, giving you a place at the *best* London uni. All you have to do now is buy a RAG band. Freshers is a unique, fun and memorable (hopefully) experience so don’t miss out!

So how do I buy a RAG band you may ask?

RAG bands go on sale today at 5pm.

  • Follow this link: https://www.lsesu.com/ents/event/6940/ or find the ticket link at ‘The RAG Band 2018 – LSE’s Official Freshers’ Week’ Facebook event
  • Create a guest account for the Students Union website
  • Buy your RAG band

Simple!

What do you get with this RAG band? You get 5 nights of amazing freshers events at renowned London clubs. Starting on Sunday 23rd September 2018 (the official move in day for LSE halls) and finishing with our final night on Thursday 27th September 2018. They have also thrown in a Welcome Week T-Shirt. Here is the list of club nights:

SUNDAY 23/9: ICEBREAKER @ TIGER TIGER
MONDAY 24/9: BACK 2 SKOOL @ THE SU VENUE
TUESDAY 25/9: FRESHERS’ RAVE @ FABRIC
WEDNESDAY 26/9: BATTLE OF THE HALLS @ KOKO
THURSDAY 27/9: BEACH PARTY @ EGG

These freshers’ events are created by the wonderful RAG (Raising And Giving) team at LSE who happen to share an office with The Beaver newspaper team – we weren’t bribed into writing this article promise! They are a team of LSE students dedicated to fundraising for charities, and are one of the fastest growing RAG societies in the UK, raising over £200,000 last year alone. They raise money for a number of amazing causes, so you know that the funds from your Freshers’ Week not only mean you get to have a good time, but the funds go to people who need them most.

However, they are more than just the Fresher’s RAG Band! Follow them on social media for the countless ways you can be involved throughout the years, from small one-off fundraising events to big challenges, including marathons and hikes in Machu Picchu and Everest!

The RAG Band is only for incoming LSE students (don’t bother trying to sneak in UCL friends, I’ve tried). You can buy one if you’re a new first year or a postgraduate. Second and third years are also welcome at selected events but can’t buy a RAG band.

Please note that you must be over 18 to purchase the RAG Band, as this is the legal UK drinking age and you will NOT be allowed into clubs without valid ID. Your hall committees and LSESU will be running non-alcoholic events to make sure you don’t miss out if you are underage!

Some parting advice from a fellow second year: “don’t be afraid to leave your comfort zone and try new things – as long as they are legal” – Very zen indeed.
